Ex-ACCC head Graeme Samuel has told a committee probing a KPMG whistleblower’s claims that splitting audit services off from consulting firms is a “ridiculous” idea, instead recommending partnerships be regulated under the Corporations Act and “miscreant” auditors face “severe” penalties.
