Twenty-three barristers in NSW have joined the silk ranks, including a leading defamation lawyer who was on the Fairfax legal team that defeated accused war criminal Ben Roberts-Smith’s defamation suit.

The New South Wales Supreme Court of Appeal has clarified that payment claims and adjudication notices sent via email can constitute service and trigger relevant limitation periods under the Security of Payment Act. 

The head of law firm Levitt Robinson has avoided being personally hit with costs in a franchisee’s lawsuit against failed restaurant chain Fogo Brazilia, despite a judge finding he made “serious misjudgments” in his handling of the case.
