The ACCC has asked a judge to slap Queensland-based mining equipment company Qteq with a penalty of between $11 million and $13 million after he found the company and its chairman attempted to engage in cartel conduct. 

An appeals court has dismissed BlueScope Steel’s challenge to a decision finding it engaged in attempted price-fixing and was on the hook for a record $57.5 million penalty.

A judge has found that Queensland-based mining equipment company Qteq and its chairman engaged in cartel conduct, including attempting to rig a multi-million dollar tender. 

BlueScope Steel is challenging a ruling that it pay a record $57.5 million penalty for engaging in attempted price fixing with flat steel distributors.
